For a significant period, he struggled along the road, enduring pain and desperately seeking help. His hind legs were paralyzed, likely due to a spinal injury, forcing him to pull his lower body across the hard ground.
This left his back paws swollen, sore, and wounded from constant friction.
When we discovered him, he was shivering, consumed by cold and fear. Initially, he was unaware that we intended to help, and his mistrust was evident in his eyes.
We could only imagine how long he had been suffering, but now he was finally safe. The next day, we planned to take him to the veterinarian to assess his injuries and start the necessary treatment.

At the veterinary clinic, the examination revealed that his body temperature was stable, and he tested negative for vector-borne diseases. However, his bladder was full, and he was incontinent, leaking urine.
On a positive note, during the sensitivity exam, he did respond to touch and pain—an encouraging sign.
The veterinarian began treatment with antibiotics to reduce inflammation around his spine, supplemented by Dexamethasone, with hopes of improving his mobility.

In the days that followed, I remained by Niko’s side, accompanying him through therapy sessions and infusions. One challenge was his diet; he only ate meat and often vomited after meals.
Despite his discomfort, Niko demonstrated remarkable patience during every treatment, and today, he wagged his tail for the first time—a small yet uplifting indication of his progress.

Although the possibility of him walking normally again is limited, our hope persists. Even the smallest improvement is worth striving for. We are committed to trying everything possible to aid his healing and bring happiness back into his life.
Every day, Niko exhibits a little more resilience, his spirit untouched by the struggles he has endured. His journey to recovery continues, but with ongoing care and patience, he is gradually moving towards a life free from pain and suffering.
