Leia, a German Shepherd, may not be the type to snuggle often, but she has her own unique way of expressing affection by staying near her loved ones and looking after them.
Leia recently showed just how deep her bond is with her grandfather when he had to spend a night in the hospital. Earlier this year, Katie Snyder, Leia’s mom, sent Leia to stay with her parents for some time.
During her stay, Leia quickly became fond of Snyder’s parents. Despite her non-cuddly nature, her attachment to Snyder’s dad remained unnoticed until he had a medical scare.
It happened on the night Snyder’s parents went out to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. Snyder’s dad unexpectedly had to be taken to the hospital, leaving Snyder’s mom to return home by herself.
Unfortunately, due to hospital policies, Snyder’s mom couldn’t stay by her husband’s side, but she had Leia for consolation.
When Leia realized that her granddad hadn’t come back, she was visibly distressed. She sat by the door, waiting sadly for him to return, clearly showing how much she missed him.
Recognizing Leia’s deep affection, Snyder decided that Leia’s short stay with her parents should become a permanent arrangement. It was evident that her dad had become Leia’s dad as well.
When Snyder’s dad finally came back home the following day, Leia was filled with joy and relief to see him again. Snyder shared with The Dodo, “He is her human now.”
Leia and her new dad are now inseparable, enjoying each other’s company every day, proving once more that dogs truly embody love and loyalty.
