Across the internet, debates frequently arise about whether animals truly possess emotions. Those of us who adore animals often believe they experience feelings, forming bonds similar to those humans have.
They exhibit hunger, affection, and even grief when they lose a loved one.
In one poignant example from India, a deep bond between a puppy and its mother was revealed. When a man named Somi Gopalan stumbled upon a puppy unwilling to leave the side of its deceased mother, he saw this firsthand.
Initially, bystanders hesitated to intervene, unsure of the dogs’ reactions and how best to handle the situation. In the end, Somi decided to step forward and act with compassion.
A few days prior, Somi had seen an image on Facebook showing the puppy lying next to his mother’s body.
Although he did not know the location at the time, VoSD (The Voice of Stray Dogs) reported that the pair had been in that spot for about a week. It took Somi a while to locate the puppy, and VoSD was unable to find them during that time.
Once there, Somi respectfully buried the mother dog, urging the puppy to come with him despite its reluctance to leave her side. The puppy’s mother had been dead for several days, making the scene all the more tragic.
Images of the puppy with his mother have since captured attention online, sometimes used unethically for personal gain by those seeking donations.
This exploitation highlights a sad reality in social media landscapes. However, the silver lining is that the puppy has now found a new lease on life, having been rescued and given a chance to be surrounded by love.
Gratitude is due to Somi Gopalan and VoSD for their dedication to rescuing the puppy and ensuring the mother dog was given a proper farewell. The puppy can now look forward to a future filled with care and affection.
