Some individuals regrettably view their pets as mere objects, overlooking their capacity to experience emotions like pain, fear, and love.
This was the unfortunate reality for Nakiyu, a dog who had spent his life on the streets, never experiencing the comfort of a home.
As winter’s chill intensified, Nakiyu faced an enormous challenge. He was chained outside while his owners remained warm indoors, seemingly oblivious to his suffering in the freezing cold.

He caught the attention of a couple walking past the house. Shocked to find him sitting helplessly in the deep snow, they saw he was restrained and unable to find any shelter.
With no food or refuge, Nakiyu was left exposed to the harsh elements. The couple wondered how much longer he could survive in such conditions.
Determined to help, they knocked repeatedly on the door, but no one responded. Despite the lights being on inside, it was apparent the residents were indifferent to the plight of the dog outside.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, the man dashed to a nearby store to buy metal cutters. Together, they freed Nakiyu from the chain and hurried him to a veterinarian.
The vet was taken aback by the dog’s state, astonished that Nakiyu wasn’t a stray given his neglected appearance.
Nakiyu was frail, infested with ticks, and had multiple wounds. Although not completely starved, it was evident his owners had only recently started neglecting his nutrition.

Marks around his neck showed he had been chained for too long. His coat was in poor condition, and the tick infestation had left him severely anemic, barely able to stand.
His prolonged exposure to the cold also resulted in hypothermia.
Thanks to the couple’s swift intervention, Nakiyu received the urgent medical attention he desperately needed. Without their help, this winter might have been his last.
