Lola once endured a life filled with hardship and neglect. This pit bull spent eight long years confined to a garage floor, surrounded by darkness and filth, always chained and never receiving the love or medical care she needed.
Her rescue story began when a compassionate woman discovered her situation and reached out to AMA Animal Rescue, an animal welfare organization based in New York.
The rescuers were able to persuade her owner to let Lola go, opening the door to a new life for the gentle canine.

Despite her difficult past, Lola greeted her rescuers not with aggression, but with warmth and friendliness, her tail wagging excitedly.
Michele Walsh, an AMA volunteer, told The Dodo, “We called her ‘wiggly butt’.” Once freed from her chain, Lola was eager to express her affection, showering the rescuers with kisses.
After being rescued, Lola underwent surgery at Animal Kind Veterinary Hospital to remove several tumors. She then spent a few months in foster care before finding her forever home with Charlène von Saher in Manhattan.

Lola quickly settled into her new home, needing just a few days to feel at ease. “She found where her little beds were, and what was soft and comfortable for her,” von Saher shared.
Lola enjoys her new life of luxury, lounging on couches, beds, and even patio furniture.
Von Saher lovingly describes Lola’s tendency to arrange her surroundings to her liking.

“She actually took a throw pillow off of my bed and put it in her dog bed,” she said, recounting how Lola amusingly created a cozy spot for herself using von Saher’s pillow, reminiscent of a scene from ‘The Princess and the Pea.’
Lola’s penchant for comfort was further exhibited when von Saher once found her sprawled across two dog beds, having dragged a smaller bed onto a larger one to fashion her own makeshift recliner.
This humorous scene demonstrated Lola’s resourcefulness and desire for comfort.

Having spent years in darkness, Lola now eagerly enjoys the sunny spots in her new surroundings. Von Saher notes that the experience with Lola has been transformative, teaching her the importance of relaxation and joy.
Watching Lola evolve into a cherished and pampered pet has been a rewarding journey.

“Lola seems to improve every day,” von Saher observed. She reflects on the common belief that adopting a dog saves two lives—by giving one dog a home, you make room for another in need.
“I just adore her,” Von Saher expressed warmly. “She’s already made my life so much better.”
