Intrigued and concerned, she ventured closer and discovered a furry animal stranded on a steep ledge about 100 feet high.
Alarmed by the trapped animal’s predicament, the woman swiftly contacted local rescue teams for assistance. Responding promptly, personnel from Mercer County Fire Protection and Jessamine County Emergency Management—alongside their skilled Rope Rescue technicians—rushed to the scene. Due to the complexities involved in the situation, the rescuers first used a drone to evaluate the scenario and identified the pup’s perilous position on the narrow ledge, where any misstep could lead to a devastating fall.
Remarkably, the dog remained composed, staying still as if waiting for help to arrive. The rescue teams set up a rope system that allowed one of their members, selected for having experience with animals, to carefully descend towards the pup. With gentle encouragement, the rescuer approached the dog, equipped her with a muzzle and a harness, and signaled for their ascent. Together, they were safely pulled back to the top of the cliff by the Jessamine and Mercer crews.
