Many people don’t realize the heartache that abandoned dogs endure when they lose their homes and the only family they’ve known. These abandoned animals, feeling unloved and forsaken, often roam the streets, searching for a kind soul to give them hope.
Bailey is one such dog who has faced significant hardship. Despite being blind and partially deaf, this senior pup knew love when her original owners adopted her as a puppy. Unfortunately, they eventually deserted her, leaving Bailey to navigate life’s challenges alone.
About a decade after her initial adoption, Bailey was discovered wandering by the team at Baldwin Park Shelter in California. Her health had deteriorated, with skin infections caused by severe flea allergies, but rescuers quickly brought her in to care for her.
Wags and Walks, a caring non-profit organization, soon took over Bailey’s care. They were shocked by her poor condition, as Erica from The Dodo explained, “Seeing her up close was heartbreaking. We weren’t prepared for the neglect evidenced by her crusted eyes and poor skin condition.”
Despite her history of neglect, Bailey responded warmly to her new caregivers. She thrived under their gentle touch and love, wagging her tail constantly and showing gratitude for the attention she received.
Being blind doesn’t stop Bailey from adapting well to her surroundings. Though she sometimes bumps into things, she remains undeterred. Her caregivers ensure she receives the necessary medical attention, and sweaters help protect her skin from exposure due to her past years outdoors.
A devoted foster mom named Moli welcomed Bailey into her home and instantly fell for her sweet nature. “She just needed a place to stay,” Moli shared with The Dodo, showing her eagerness to provide Bailey with love and affection.
Though Bailey is surrounded by love in her foster home, she dreams of a forever family to love her just as she is. She enjoys being outside and would thrive in a home with a spacious backyard to explore.
Bailey, the lovable Californian pup, eagerly awaits a family who will cherish her and provide the home she truly deserves. After enduring so much loneliness, she longs for a lifetime filled with love and care.
