Finding a safe, loving home is essential for everyone, whether children or animals. At the HERD Elephant Orphanage in South Africa, a small yet charming elephant named Khanyisa is experiencing just that.
Khanyisa, though petite, is ready to bond with her new herd. In a heartwarming video, she meets Setombe, a 25-year-old elephant, and her 13-year-old daughter, Klaserie.

Elephants can be cautious when meeting newcomers, and Klaserie initially hesitated around Khanyisa. However, over the first few days, the two elephants gradually grew more at ease with each other.
Khanyisa has also quickly connected with her new caregiver, Lundi, who is skillfully managing the added responsibilities of nurturing a young elephant.
